Key provisions of the Puerto Rico Status Act: 

• Authorizes a federally sponsored plebiscite to resolve Puerto Rico’s political status. 
• Specifies and defines Puerto Rico’s non-territory status options: Statehood, Independence, and Sovereignty in Free Association with the United States.
• Provides for an objective, nonpartisan, federally funded voter education campaign leading up to the vote. 
• Establishes a process and timeline for the U.S. Department of Justice to review the plebiscite voter education materials and plebiscite ballot design.  
• Authorizes necessary funds to carry out an initial plebiscite and, if necessary, a runoff plebiscite. 
• Describes the transition to and implementation of each status option in sufficient detail for eligible voters in Puerto Rico to make an informed choice. 
• Ensures implementation of the option that is chosen by a majority of eligible voters in Puerto Rico. 

To End the Territorial Colonial Status of Puerto Rico 

The economy of anyone whatever big or small the entity or person is, is based on the power to negotiate.  From the beginning of times, economy has been based on the power to provide something in exchange of something else.  

The current status of Puerto Rico, as a possession of the USA, a territory as defined by the US Constitution, does not provide PR anything to negotiate with, no members in congress to advocate for what is best for PR and vote for other bills when others vote for bills that benefit PR. Statehood provides that.
 

The current status of PR eighter provides for PR to be able to have a seat in any international treaty organizations and vote and have power to negotiate with the USA or in the international community for treaties and free associations that benefit PR keeping it free to grow and make more associations or not.  

Independence and Sovereignty with Free Association provides that.

The Puerto Rico Status Act, the discussion draft compromise bill on Puerto Rico’s political status currently being considered in Congress, calls for a vote on three options:  statehood, sovereignty in free association with the U.S. and independence.

Read the Bill, comment if you can, stay in contact with the Natural Resources Committe, the United States House of Representatives Committe in charge of issues related to the territories of the USA. 

Never rest until Puerto Rico is freed of the chains of colonialism and territorial status 

and is either:

 -  Recognized as a State of the United States of America, 

 - Independent or 

 - Sovereign with a free association to the USA. 

This Bill Authorizes a federally sponsored plebiscite for 

Puerto Rico to determine its political status internationally and with the USA, 

from a non-possession perspective, 

and ensures implementation of the option that is chosen by a majority of eligible voters in Puerto Rico, the step missing in all other plebiscites previously held in Puerto Rico. 

Whatever is decided by the people of PR in the plebiscite sponsored by this Bill will be the LAW OF THE LAND IN THE USA AND PR!!!
